# atmos aws cloudformation plan

Preview changes an apply would make to a CloudFormation stack. `plan` is an
alias for [`diff`](/cli/commands/aws/cloudformation/diff): it creates a
changeset, renders the predicted changes, and deletes the changeset without
executing it. Like `diff`, it removes the empty `REVIEW_IN_PROGRESS` stack it
created when previewing a never-deployed component, and it fails with a
recovery hint for a stack in `ROLLBACK_COMPLETE`.

## Usage

```shell
atmos aws cloudformation plan <component> --stack <stack> [options]
atmos aws cloudformation plan vpc -s plat-ue2-dev

# Plan components filtered by tags or labels (composes with --all/--affected)
atmos aws cloudformation plan --all --tags production,tier-1
atmos aws cloudformation plan --affected --labels cost-center=platform
```

## Flags

- **`--stack`, `-s` (required for a single component)**
  Atmos stack. Required when operating on a single component; optional (and used only to narrow the selected set) with 
  `--all`
